Role Overview: We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our team and help bring RoamMate to life. As part of a fast-growing travel tech startup, you’ll play a key role in building the features that power our personalized recommendation engine and group planning tools. You’ll have the chance to work with innovative technology, including Generative AI, and contribute to a product that’s designed to change the way people plan and share their travel experiences.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who’s passionate about travel tech, enjoys working in a startup environment, and wants to take ownership of technical development while collaborating closely with the founding team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with the founding team to build and enhance RoamMate’s core product features, including the personality quiz-based recommendation engine.
2. Work on the backend development, ensuring the seamless integration of our website and bot.
3. Develop tools for group trip planning, allowing users to plan trips with friends and family in an interactive and user-friendly way.
4. Improve the overall user experience by continuously iterating on product features based on feedback and testing.
5. Ensure the platform’s scalability and reliability as it grows, building for high traffic and seamless integrations.
6. Work with APIs, cloud hosting (AWS), and messaging platforms (WhatsApp, Twilio) to deliver a robust travel planning experience.
7. Experiment with new ideas and help drive product innovation as we test different ways to engage users and grow the platform.

What We’re Looking For:

1. Strong experience in backend development and knowledge of building scalable web applications.
2. Proficiency with programming languages such as Python, Node.js, or similar, and experience with cloud platforms like AWS.
3. Hands-on experience with API integrations and familiarity with messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Twilio.
4. Interest or experience in Generative AI and its applications in consumer-facing products is a huge plus.
5. An eye for detail, a user-centric mindset, and a desire to contribute to an innovative travel platform.
6. Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment, with the ability to adapt quickly and solve complex technical challenges.
7. A collaborative attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work closely with both technical and non-technical team members.
