Founding Engineer: Computational Drug Discovery in the Cloud

The Role
We're seeking a Software Engineer to join our founding team and help shape the future of our platform. This is a unique opportunity to work on challenging problems at the intersection of cloud computing, cheminformatics, and drug discovery. This is not a chemistry specialist role and does not require previous expertise in the physical sciences. The main focus will be on building and maintaining "support systems" and contributing to general technical architectures surrounding the science-specific product development.

What You'll Do

• Build and deploy cloud-based software and development support systems
• Build scalable, reliable systems that can handle complex computational workflows
• Contribute to our full stack, from backend services to user-facing interfaces

What We're Looking For

• A very fast and independent learner who can clearly communicate technical concepts and project updates at a high level.
• Strong software engineering skills with an understanding of cloud-native design.
• Experience with Python and Kubernetes. These are crucial to succeed in this role.
• Experience with and excited about building out internal continuous integration and cloud infrastructure.
• Significant experience with at least some other elements of our tech stack is preferred. Our tech stack includes VueJS, Cue, Pulumi, AWS/GCP/Azure, Postgres, and Ray.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment and wear multiple hats.

Nice to Haves

• While no previous experience in any physical science is required, an interest in computer-aided drug design or computational chemistry would be a plus.
• Experience with cheminformatics tools and workflows or any kind of scientific computing.
• Background in building enterprise SaaS and/or BYO-cloud or on-premise products.
• Contributions to open-source projects.

Location
We're hiring remotely, with a preference for candidates within our timezone and willing to meet in person for company off-sites and hackathons.
