OPPORTUNITY
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the TS&D chemists in completing their research projects and handling miscellaneous duties in the TS&D lab. This position will uphold the Hydrite “Standards of Excellence” through continuous commitment to customer satisfaction, both internal and external.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Uphold Hydrite’s Standard of Excellence through a continuous commitment to maintain quality
- facilities and provide quality products and services to internal and external customers
- Prepare samples for Distribution, FP, Water Treatment, and Foam Control.
- Practice good laboratory safety techniques.
- Assist chemists in completing lab requests and projects.
- Ship small quantities of hazardous materials.
- Perform all duties outlined in relevant SOPs and all other duties to be assigned.
- Participate in RCRA, regulatory, health & safety and process training activities as required. Review changes/additions with your supervisor. Must be RCRA compliant.
- Maintain inventory of chemicals according to the Chemical Hygiene Plan.
- Ensure that all raw material containers are filled.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation in good running order.
- Follow the safety rules as outlined in the Chemical Hygiene Plan.
- Works with other staff members to maintain workload balances. Provides back-up support as necessary.
- Supports effective communication with all Hydrite departments where responsibilities overlap to ensure success of the branch team
REPORTING STRUCTURE
- This position reports to the Director of Technology
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA
- Must be studying to obtain a degree in Chemistry (Junior or Senior).
- Completion of following core Chemistry courses: Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and associated labs.
- Must possess good laboratory analytical skills.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office.
- Able to apply advanced math skills and use involved problem solving.
- Must be self-motivated.
- Must have communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to stand for 4 hours at a time.
- Bend, twist, and squat on occasion.
- Climb ladders or stairs multiple times per day.
- Lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Due to safety concerns, the wearing of contact lenses is prohibited.
