As the Art Director, you will lead the World Surf League’s efforts in creating groundbreaking creative design concepts and directions to push the boundaries of creativity, innovation, impact and engagement in surf. Your work will involve driving a collaborators’ visions while aligning with brand objectives. Your experience in brand design coupled with an appetite for creativity will be the driving force to create impactful work across a range of mediums within a fast-paced, dynamic and live sport environment.
This is a full-time position, within a hybrid team based in El Segundo, reporting to the SVP, Marketing and Talent.

- You have strong graphic skills combined with forward-thinking creativity and proactivity to develop engaging perspectives for brands, design, content and events.
- You have a collaborative spirit with cross-functional teams both internally and externally and the flexibility to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- You enjoy creative thinking and design time for one, while also working within cross-functional teams both globally and regionally. You embrace the opportunity to work with collaborators externally, partnering with both freelance/contractors and agencies, depending on the task at hand.
RESPONSIBILITIES (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
- Actively conceptualize and design ideas to build into fully integrated campaigns
- Actively create brand marketing content through design, graphics and motion (in partnership with additional creatives internally and externally)
- Demonstrate fresh thinking, trends, and insights
- Be a team player! Contributing to team meetings and ideations against any/all initiatives both within the department and cross-functionally
- Continue to build and execute the WSL brand creative vision
- Additional tasks or projects as assigned including merch design, digital design, event design and fan concepts and experiences
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4-6+ years of creative agency or creative brand experience
- Fluent with design best practices
- Emphasis on surfing, action sports and/or live sports or relevant examples
- Must have strong design aesthetic: typography, photo-retouching and layout
- Current with design, fashion, social and online culture trends
- Understands consumer insights and finds ways to leverage them
- BA, BFA in design, arts, or communications
- Exceptional work ethic, self starter, team player and good vibes no egos
- Expert with Adobe Creative Suite, Google
