With the recent launch of our beta version at tocco.earth, we are ready to expand our team with a passionate Founding Engineer.

As a Founding Engineer, you'll have the unique opportunity to contribute at the very early stage of product development, shaping the first version of our product to become an industry benchmark. You'll gain invaluable insights into the workings of an early-stage startup while making a real-world impact on climate and sustainability through cutting-edge technology.

🔷 Your responsibilities

As a founding engineer, you will be responsible for designing and building the core technology that powers our product. You will work closely with the founding team to understand the developer's needs and build a technical roadmap that aligns with our goals.

• Product Development: Lead the creation of our user interface, delivering an intuitive and valuable experience for our business clients.
• Technical Leadership: Make critical technical decisions and play a pivotal role in developing a robust, scalable product.
• Full-Stack Development: Oversee the full-stack development process, ensuring high-quality, user-centric solutions.
• Team Management: Mentor and manage a growing team of developers, enhancing their technical skills and contribution to project sprints.
• Innovation: Work with climate-related datasets, carbon computing models, and data-processing algorithms. You'll have the freedom to propose and select cutting-edge tools and technologies that push the boundaries of what's possible.

🔷 You’re a fit if you

• Have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably in startup environments and B2B SaaS.
• Are fluent in English, both spoken and written, for clear communication with our global team.
• Are proficient in JavaScript, with experience in the PERN stack (PostgreSQL, Express.js, React, Node.js), or similar frameworks.
• Are driven by a desire to make a positive impact on the climate and have an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Have built interesting business use cases with recent LLMs (Large Language Models).
• Thrive in the dynamic pace of an early-stage startup, being proactive, hands-on, and adaptable.
• Approach problems with a first-principles mindset, breaking down complex issues to their fundamental truths to find innovative solutions.
• Are open to a remote-first culture, with occasional carbon-conscious travel for in-person team meetups. Being in Paris or willing to relocate is a bonus.

🔷 Technical environment
Our platform is built from the ground up to rethink the B2B user experience and focus on what matters: accelerating the discovery of new materials. We have hooked large language models as part of our operating procedure.

• Frontend & Backend: Built with TypeScript, React (NextJS), and an Express backend for a seamless user interface.
• Data Management: Data is stored in PostgreSQL and our warehouse is in BigQuery.
• Lean Mindset: We prioritize efficiency by using PaaS and SaaS solutions, such as Supabase and Knock, for non-core components.
