About the job
As an Accounting Manager at Karlon Group, you will play an integral role on multiple client engagements across industries including consumer, SaaS, business services, manufacturing and healthcare. We are looking for someone who has a strong foundation of 2+ years in Big 4 accounting, coupled with 4+ years of experience in operational accounting at a growing company. We want candidates who love process, embrace automation (including AI), and obsess over the numbers. The ideal candidate is a self-proclaimed perfectionist who has a passion for working cross-functionally with internal and external client teams.
You’ll work extensively with our growing finance and accounting team (we’re actually a lot of fun). You’ll also have plenty of opportunities to work with senior leaders at Karlon Group and at our clients. High performers will be provided opportunities to expand their field of proficiency into corporate finance, modeling and FP&A.
What You’ll Do
- Lead all activities related to full-cycle accounting, including building journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and researching and resolving discrepancies.
- Oversee and prepare month end close account reconciliations and journal entries relating but not limited to inventory, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, settlement receivables, deferred rent, asset and liability deposit accounts, revenue, and operating expenses.
- Oversee a tight monthly reporting schedule according to established time-frames.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and financial reporting packages for executive review.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients’ accounting questions and needs
- Investigate fluctuations and monitor trends in the accounts. Work with other teams to gain a deep understanding of the story behind the movements.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
- Delegate work to accountants to balance workload and increase training opportunities
- Train, coach, and delegate work to outsourced teams.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and documentation of new process workflows related to inventory, accounts payable, and internal controls.
- Assist with gathering and/or preparing schedules for third party requests relating to financial statement audits, sales tax audits, etc.
- Support clients through audits and due diligence as needed
Company Stewardship
- Participate in the recruiting process via prospecting, interviewing, and candidate selection
- Partner with colleagues across the company and on client teams to implement and integrate new processes
- Join internal task forces focused on key business priorities
- Serve as official mentor to internal accountant(s)
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, economics, finance, math, engineering or business.
- 2+ years of experience at a Big 4 accounting firm, in audit/assurance, tax, or M&A advisory.
- 4+ years of operational accounting experience at a growing company, including experience managing 1 or more junior accountants
- Advanced excel and google sheet user.
- Experience with full close-cycle accounting
- ERP experience (for example: Quickbooks, Fulfil.io, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP)
- PC user (sorry no Macs)
