Position Overview:
The Associate will have a significant role in supporting the coordination, review, and analysis of valuation deliverables and supporting documentation for direct portfolio company investments in the Company’s VC investments. The Associate will also help facilitate the external audits by assisting with VC investment valuation-related inquiries. The Associate will work closely with the Company’s Managing Director and VC Research and Fund Accounting teams.
Essential Functions:
This hands-on, detail-oriented position will:
- Collaborate and coordinate quarterly and annual valuation work across various research and enterprise services teams
- Coordinate and review valuation deliverables and related supporting documentation
- Participate in quarterly valuation calls with VC Valuation Committee
- Interact directly with VC investment team analysts and associates to provide detailed review commentary on prepared materials, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Assist in the review of portfolio company operating and financial performance metrics to help facilitate fair value recommendations
- Ensure portfolio company fair valuation in accordance with GAAP and with the Company’s Valuation Policy
- Ensure valuation reviews are executed and documented as required under SOX
- Compile valuation-related supporting documentation for the funds’ annual financial statement audits
- Support the investment team, fund accounting, SPAR and the third-party fund administrator, as needed, to resolve questions related to portfolio company accounting records
- Understand investment transaction documents and interpret impact on valuation and accounting records
- Understand how investments are tracked and reported in SPI Reporting to support performance reporting
- Develop working knowledge of SPI reporting and support for quarterly valuation recording in SPI Reporting
- Respond to internal and external requests in a professional and timely manner
- Perform other duties as requested or as responsibilities dictate
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must possess a four-year college degree with a major in Accounting
- Five years of fund accounting, fund operations, or public accounting experience
- Strong Microsoft Excel experience
- Experience with Power BI, Excel, Power Pivot, and SharePoint
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements:
- Ability to multi-task and manage priorities against key deadlines in a demanding and fast paced environment
- Previous experience with Investment Company Accounting and ASC 820 Fair Valuation
- Prior experience interacting with external audit firms
- Must be able to work independently, but contribute in a team-oriented environment
Salary Range - $90,000 - $100,000
The salary range is an estimate of pay for this position. Actual pay may vary depending on job-related factors that can include location, education, skill, and experience. The salary range does not include any benefits or other forms of possible compensation that may be available to employees.
The benefits package includes 15 days of paid vacation, 40 hours of sick leave, and 11 days of paid holidays. Eligible for health care (single and family). 401(k) plan with 3% safe harbor contribution is available. Eligible to receive annual discretionary incentive compensation, based on both individual and overall company performance, among other considerations.
