MAJOR PURPOSE:
The Assistant Manager, Engineering at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC), operated by Major League Baseball, is responsible for assisting with oversight of the maintenance technicians during their shifts, ensuring the completion of work orders and projects in accordance with facility guidelines. Primary focus will be to provide support to the Manager, Engineering with day-to-day operations of the department. This includes but is not limited to ensuring the management and timely completion of work orders, preventive maintenance, reactive maintenance and direct oversite of projects for the on-site villas, while maintaining seamless communication with Leadership and respective departments regarding maintenance-related issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the Manager, Engineering to monitor daily operations, including facility maintenance, preventative maintenance, and ongoing
- Identify issues with property spaces including property structure, hardware, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical failures, or breakdowns promptly addressing hazards, defects, or repair needs.
- Perform basic service and repair on plumbing fixtures, addressing clogged lines and drains.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs including filter replacement, belt adjustment, minor repairs, and boiler inspections.
- Perform locksmith duties, including installing, repairing, and replacing locks on doors.
- Inspect, service, and maintain the operational functionality of doors and windows.
- Install or replace plugs, switches, and outlet, light fixtures and lamp and adjust lighting control schedules to meet occupant requirements.
- Utilize basic skills to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, or oral
- Assist with the management of the work order system ensuring effective communication of the repair status, parts utilized for repair, and pertinent information in the comment sections regarding the work order.
- Contribute to the development and revision of effective building-specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals.

- Respond to emergency situations, customer concerns/complaints, and special requests.

REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), or one to three months of related experience and/or training.
- Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of the equipment, tools, and materials used in building maintenance.
- Progressive roles and responsibilities in supervision, management, and support of technical building maintenance and trades personnel.
- Proficient knowledge of HVAC, electrical, lighting control, generators, fire sprinklers, plumbing systems design, operations, maintenance installation, repairs, and retrofits.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively with all stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, team oriented, highly organized, and detail oriented.
- Flexibility to adapt quickly to changing priorities and assignments.
- Logical reasoning skills to identify strengths and weaknesses in problem-solving.
- Availability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
