Boom is building a suite of embedded and integrated rental financial services, starting with rent payment reporting to help renters build credit with their largest monthly expense, with more (not yet public) B2B and consumer-facing tools across the renter journey. Opportunity
As our first Account Manager, you will be at the frontline of our client relationships, playing a key role in driving customer retention and growth. You will report to the Head of Operations and work closely with the broader operations (i.e., support) team, sales, marketing, product, and the CEO and CTO. This role combines operational execution (getting partners launched and renewed) and sales/persuasion (to expand/deepen client relationships). This role is an excellent fit for someone who is high energy, highly organized, works well cross-functionally and is not afraid to sell. Lastly, in this role, you'll have a lot of decision-making power while being involved in many senior-level company decisions; and as the first AM hire, you will have a lot of ability to shape and lead the function. Given the importance of the role, we are primarily targeting Austin-based in-person hires for this role, but are flexible. The role is salaried with equity and sales based commission for upsells (targeted in the ~5% of ACV range).
What you'll do
- Client management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as their primary point of contact
- Onboarding: Launch new clients with a focus on improving the time to launch
- Relationship maximization: Proactively identify opportunities to optimize client use of our platform, driving engagement and adoption
- Client-Boom liaison: Act as a liaison between clients and internal teams, providing feedback to help shape product development
- Renewal management: Manage client renewals and upsell opportunities to drive revenue growth
- Problem triaging: Troubleshoot client issues, working with product/engineering as needed, to ensure timely resolution to maintain high satisfaction levels
- Client-facing reporting: Develop/deliver performance reports to show the value Boom brings to clients
What you'll need
- 2+ years of experience in account management, sales, customer success, or related roles, ideally in early-stage B2B SaaS
- Track record of managing and growing client relationships with a consultative approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward client needs
- Familiarity with CRM tools and data-driven decision-making
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a high level of adaptability
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred
