We’re looking for an experienced Fabrication Director (m/f/d) to join one of our portfolio companies and lead its semiconductor foundry. You will work with an experienced fab team during the planning, installation and ramp-up phase of a pilot fab for a new photonic semiconductor technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the planning, construction, startup and running of semiconductor manufacturing facility including technical and people management.
In this role, you’ll:
- Alongside an experienced fab manager and team plan and establish a new 300 mm pilot production site for a novel photonic technology integrated in backend of CMOS electronics. After completion of the construction phase, site acceptance of tools and first silicon runs in the fab, you take over the responsibility of the entire fab organization.
- Ramp up the cleanroom facility to ensure it being ready for equipment on schedule
- During procurement participate in the inspection, management, and evaluation of suppliers to ensure delivery quality and establish long-term cooperative relationships
- Manage tool move in, hookup and site acceptance together with partners and internal teams
- Build the fab organisation including teams for facility support, operations and maintenance, automation, and quality and yield
- After completion of ramp up, make the strategic decisions on the fab organisation, optimise production processes, introduce automation and intelligent technologies to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs
- Align with CTO department to appropriately arrange production resources, and ensure efficient and high quality operation of production lines and technology R&D
- Ensure manufacturing processes meet quality standards and requirements, monitor product inspection and testing, timely handle exceptions, and monitor quality to improve technology quality and process efficiency
Your Profile
- Successfully completed degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Electronics, Chemical Engineering, or a comparable field
- At least 5 years of experience in semiconductor fab management roles, ideally in senior management position of a production fab
- Experience in semiconductor fab technology development
- Extensive expertise with automated production processes, workflows, and quality management
- Proficiency in creating and adjusting production plans, capable of independently making production plans based on production tasks and resource conditions
- In depth knowledge and skills in equipment and facility maintenance and management, capable of creating maintenance plans and ensuring normal operation of equipment
- In depth knowledge with production cost controls and cost analysis
- In depth communication knowledge and skills to ensure smooth alignment of fab operations and R&D teams
Please note that we are looking for support in the Aachen office of our portfolio company. Eligibility to work within the EU is required as well.
