Director of Network Engineering

NOTE: EQUITY-ONLY ROLE UNTIL REVENUE AND/OR FUNDRAISE

We are seeking a Director of Network Engineering to work directly with our CTO/Chief Architect and SVP of Engineering. As a crucial technical leader in our network engineering team, you will also contribute hands-on effort to the development process. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled developer with expertise in network engineering who is well-versed in Linux, PHP, and JSON. Bonus if familiar with WHMCS webhosting/billing, MySQL databases, Shards UI framework, Squid, and/or SquidGuard. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about building scalable systems, and enjoys both leadership and coding.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in network engineering
• Strong proficiency in Linux, including server management, deployment, and security.
• Expertise in PHP for back-end development and building dynamic web applications.
• Experience with JSON and handling API integrations, data exchange, and structuring efficient data formats.
• Familiarity with MySQL for database management, optimization, and scaling.
• Demonstrated experience in developing scalable, high-performance software solutions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with product and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise with WHMCS automated webhosting/billing
• Expertise with Shards UI or similar frontend frameworks for building responsive, user-friendly interfaces.
• Expertise implementing Squid or SquidGuard
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams, mentor junior engineers, and manage technical projects from start to finish.
• Experience working in a startup or fast-paced, agile environment.
• Familiarity with modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, Vultr, or Azure.
• Passion for UI/UX design principles and ensuring an intuitive user interface experience.
