The Longhorn Council, Scouting America is currently seeking candidates for the role of District Executive. As a district executive, you will recruit and maintain a board of volunteers to provide leadership in a geographical area in all aspects of district operations – membership growth, revenue growth, exceptional customer service, and program development and support. A successful district executive accepts responsibility for the success or failure in the achievement or annual objectives and goals.

Compensation starts at $52,000 with performance-based raises and promotions. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.

Benefits will include major medical, prescription coverage, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, accidental death, a 403(B) Retirement Plan with company match, and Employee Assistance Program plus compensation for authorized and approved business-related expenses including mileage reimbursement. The Longhorn Council reimburses cell phone expenses $75 per month and business mileage at $.67 a mile monthly. Additionally, a generous vacation policy and ten holiday observances in offered.

The District Executive selected will:

• Be a self-motivated individual with solid time management skills and strong organizational skills in management, budgeting, and planning.
• Be comfortable with public speaking and interacting with diverse audiences.
• Have excellent people skills, be enthusiastic, be punctual, be responsible, and be creative.
• Provide exceptional customer service through timely and regular communication, meetings, training, events, and activities.
• Work with a diverse community and business leaders to identify, recruit, train, guide, and inspire others to become involved in youth programs.
• Achieve progress towards specific goals and objectives which include fundraising, membership recruitment and retention, volunteer recruitment and training, and program development.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders including religious, civic, fraternal, educational, and other community-based organizations to grow Scouting membership.
• Achieve net income and participation objectives for assigned camps and activities.
• Be a good role model and recognize the importance of working relationships with other professionals and volunteers.
• Be committed to personal and professional productivity, while maintaining high ethical and professional working standards.

Desired Skills for this position include:

• Ability to speak and write in Spanish.
• Non-profit, fundraising or sales experience.
• Fiscal management and budget development.
• A Scouting background is helpful but not required for employment.

Requirements to be selected for this role:

• Must be willing to accept and meet the Scouting America’s leadership and membership standards and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (transcript with the date degree conferred stated is required for employment).
• Ability to work varied hours when necessary; evening activities and weekend work is frequently required to achieve positive objectives.
• Ability to travel for training at least once a year for one to two weeks.
• Maintain residence in the geographical territory of the Longhorn Council.
• Provide and maintain an automobile in the performance of your duties.
