Sustainability & LCA Scientist for Contract Project @ Food Data Startup

We are looking for a highly motivated, thoughtful, and hard-working individual ready to join a young startup environment with big goals. GreenChoice, PBC is a technology startup leading the way in providing nutrition and sustainability data and engagement solutions for the food and grocery industry.

Focus:
Building models for accurately estimating the carbon footprint and water footprint of any food product based on publicly available information.

Dates: Start ASAP – 4-12 week project
Location: Remote
Hours: Preferably 40 hour/week; we want this project completed ASAP
Weekly Schedule: Days and hours are flexible
Compensation: Hourly or fixed rate depending on candidate

Qualifications:

• 6+ years in product sustainability and product life-cycle (LCA) assessment and/or carbon footprint modeling
• End-to-end completion of multiple GHG Protocol-compliant greenhouse gas inventories across Scopes 1, 2, and 3; preferably for organizations with sophisticated or world-wide operations from multiple industries
• Demonstrated ability to perform complex GHG Protocol-compliant Scope 3 inventory calculations across a diverse range of industries
• Experience with sustainability database softwares including Climatiq, GaBI, and others preferred
• Background with setting science-based targets (SBTs)
• Familiarity with emissions-oriented questionnaires such as the TCFD and CDP, in addition to more general ESG reporting, including GRI, SASB, and ISS
• Demonstrated ability to successfully execute complex projects independently and lead cross-discipline collaboration
• Preferred: background in carbon footprint of lifecycle assessment of food products
• Preferred: masters degree or greater in environmental sciences or engineering, data science, informatics, sustainability, or similar fields
