Job Description & What You Will Do
The ideal candidate will possess a perfect blend of data modeling and analytics expertise, along with strong skills in developing and supporting large-scale, high-performance data pipeline systems. You should have a proven track record of leading projects and collaborating with key stakeholders to execute on company-wide data initiatives.
- Lead cross-team and/or multi-phase projects from design through implementation.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, bridging the gap between business problem and technical solution.
- Own and champion cross functional, centralized "crown jewel" data assets that answer Faire's most critical operational questions, reinforcing them as Source of Truth across the organization.
- Develop scalable data models that enable performant analysis for Faire's business.
- Codify and democratize best practices for SQL query optimization/reusability and reporting. .
- Define team-wide coding standards, documentation requirements and development processes (code reviews, testing requirements, etc).
- Embrace emerging technologies with enthusiasm.
Minimum qualifications
- 5+ years experience in analytics & data engineering roles focused on data modeling, large-scale data processing, and tool development for analytics or data science use cases.
- Demonstrated communication and leadership skills, with a history of initiating and steering successful projects across multiple stakeholders.
- Production-level development experience in Python.
- Strong SQL skills with demonstrable competencies in designing well-architected data models and optimizing query performance.
- Deep experience and knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETLs, big data technologies, and analytics platforms.
- Experience implementing and owning enterprise BI tooling (Looker, Tableau, or similar visualization/dashboarding tool).
- Experience with Airflow, Docker, DBT or similar analytics workflow tools.
- Familiarity/exposure to distributed/streaming processing frameworks.
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or a related technical field.
Salary Range
Canada: the pay range for this role is $184,000 to $253,000 per year.
This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
