Job Description
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Junior Data Scientist specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to join our growing data science team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or someone with up to 2 years of experience who is eager to develop their skills in NLP, machine learning, and data science. You will work under the guidance of senior data scientists, contributing to various NLP projects and gaining hands-on experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Text Data Preprocessing: Assist in cleaning, preprocessing, and organizing text data for analysis, including tasks such as tokenization, stemming, and lemmatization.
• Basic NLP Tasks: Implement basic NLP tasks such as text classification, sentiment analysis, and named entity recognition (NER) under the supervision of senior team members.
• Feature Engineering: Extract and select features from text data using methods like TF-IDF, bag of words, and word embeddings.
• Model Training and Evaluation: Help train and evaluate machine learning models for NLP tasks using frameworks like Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Experimentation and Research: Conduct experiments to test different NLP models and techniques, documenting findings and results.
• Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and product teams to integrate NLP models into applications and services.
• Learning and Development: Continuously learn about new tools, techniques, and advancements in NLP and machine learning.

Required Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Computational Linguistics, or a related field.
• Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python; familiarity with NLP libraries such as NLTK, SpaCy, and Scikit-Learn.
• Basic Understanding of NLP: Knowledge of core NLP concepts such as tokenization, part-of-speech tagging, and text classification.
• Machine Learning Knowledge: Fundamental understanding of machine learning concepts and algorithms.
• Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work in a team and contribute to discussions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship or Project Experience: Previous experience in NLP or data science through internships, academic projects, or personal projects.
• Experience with Deep Learning: Basic understanding of deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch and how they are applied to NLP.
• Version Control: Basic knowledge of Git and collaborative coding practices.
• Exposure to Real-World Data: Experience working with real-world datasets, particularly in text data.
