Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Raha Beach Ventures, a leading venture builder in Abu Dhabi, is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer. Important Note: Global candidates are encouraged to apply, but must be within the GMT+1 to GMT+7 timezones to facilitate team coordination/collaboration (our HQ is located in GMT+4). This is a long-term remote contractor position and reliable high-speed internet is required (download 20Mbps+, upload 5Mbps+).

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain advanced machine learning models for OCR, Document Layout Analysis, Named Entity Recognition (NER), Text Summarization, Text Classification, and Normalization.
• Utilize advanced frameworks like PyTorch, BeRT, and Hugging Face to create robust production-ready systems.
• Develop with Python at a high level of expertise, focusing on efficiency and scalability.
• Apply vector databases and/or vector extensions in PostgreSQL to optimize data storage and retrieval.
• Conduct Document Layout Analysis, with a focus on extracting structured data from PDFs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning solutions into broader systems, ensuring they meet project requirements and business goals.
• Determine the best machine learning approach, whether it's fine-tuning, training from scratch, creating new models, or just leveraging regular expressions depending on business needs.
• Optimize models for accuracy, reliability, and performance while ensuring scalability for large-scale operations.
• Adhere to industry standards and best practices in data privacy and security.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Proven experience in applied machine learning, with expertise in OCR, NER, Text Summarization, and Text Classification.
• Strong proficiency in PyTorch and Hugging Face frameworks, with a solid understanding of BeRT and related models.
• Advanced knowledge of Python, with experience in vector databases or vector extensions in PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Document Layout Analysis, particularly with PDFs.
• Experience in building and deploying production-ready systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
