About the job
The Infrastructure team at TRM Labs plays a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining robust technical infrastructure that powers a petabyte-scale blockchain analytics platform, ensuring its scalability, security, and reliability. They collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and optimize infrastructure cost and performance.
You will be joining as a Senior Engineering Manager leading a team responsible for maintaining a building's highly available infrastructure while following best practices around design and architecture. You will work with others to define the technical roadmap through OKRs, ensuring that product needs are balanced against possible technical debt.
The impact you’ll have here:
- Lead and nurture a team of high-impact engineers, offering guidance in both technical and cultural aspects.
- Provide regular coaching and technical mentorship to your immediate team as well as contribute to the broader engineering department's growth.
- Assume direct responsibility for ensuring the quality and timely delivery of the team's work, while overseeing the availability and performance of critical services.
- Managing software and tooling to facilitate greater automation, support, scalability, and operability of services.
- Collaborate closely with management and product teams to plan, estimate, and prioritize roadmap objectives, identifying opportunities and mitigating risks.
- Use data to understand the availability, reliability, sustainability, and cost efficiency of our infrastructure and drive improvements.
- Actively engage in systems hardening, compliance, and governance (e.g., SOC2, FedRAMP).
- Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to set strategy, priorities, and mission for the Infrastructure team.
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years of experience scaling and managing high-performance teams
- Experience managing long-term roadmaps, driving technical projects and facilitating technical decisions and cross-functional team discussions
- Managing and building environments on AWS or GCP
- Experience with CI/CD, containers and/or virtualization, web servers, and databases.
- Experience defining SLOs/SLIs and implementing monitoring, alerting, and runbooks.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field
The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:
- The estimated base salary range for this role is $230,000 - $250,000.
- Additionally, this role may be eligible to participate in TRM’s equity plan.
About the Team:
- The team works async but very closely with many different stakeholders in other teams who use the infrastructure and run their workloads on different parts of the infrastructure.
- Like other teams at TRM, the infrastructure team collaborates async for project designs and plans by sharing them ahead of time and then independently driving the planning and execution of the projects.
- The team operates in weekly sprints for projects.
- All on-call issues that happen during that week also get tagged and prioritized for immediate resolution or as project work that needs to be planned.
- The team is currently split across US PT, CT, and ET time zones.
- Oncall: The team currently has team on-call rotation which lasts a week. We have high internal stakeholder requests during business hours for the on-call week. The main on-call work has been to act as the infra SME for cloud, k8s, and other pieces of infra stack. The infrastructure is stable enough that we do not have late-night pages going off regularly.
