About the Team and Role:

We are seeking a talented Staff Software Engineer to contribute to Poe, our exciting AI product. You'll have the thrilling opportunity to build cutting-edge features from scratch as a member of a team focused on improving the bot ecosystem and supporting bot creators on the platform.

Your role will involve planning and implementing new features, contributing to front-end and back-end development, and taking shared ownership of the cross-functional product development cycle. If you're a team player with strong technical skills, passionate about AI, and eager to learn emerging technologies, we'd love to hear from you. Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (design, product, data science, QA, and engineering) to create innovative features and user experiences for bot creators

• Design, build, and maintain external developer APIs

• Collaborate closely with LLM providers as well as create tools and infrastructure to enable the ability to easily integrate new LLMs on Poe

• Rapidly prototype and implement new product features from ideation to production, using modern web technologies and best practices for performance and reliability

• Be a champion for both user experience and for sustainable, scalable code practices

Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to be available for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's “coordination hours" (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time)

• 7+ years of experience working with large scale codebases and systems, particularly web applications

• 5+ years of experience working with React, Typescript, and GraphQL.

• 5+ years experience in Python or similar programming language

• A passion for learning and always improving yourself and the team around you

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Requirements:

• Passion for Poe and Quora's products and mission

• Passionate about API design, the developer ecosystem and overall developer experience

• Passion for code quality and designing elegant systems

There are many factors that will determine the starting pay, including but not limited to experience, location, education, and business needs.

• US candidates only: For US based applicants, the salary range is $183,647 - $267,615 USD + equity + benefits.

• Canada candidates only: For Canada based applicants, the salary range is $222,078 - $277,387 CAD + equity + benefits.
