The Role
The Vice President of New Home Construction Sales and Business Development is a key role in the growth of SPAN. Building a new home is the perfect time to include SPAN in the project. SPAN provides value to both the builder and the homebuyer, reducing builders electrical equipment and utility infrastructure costs, while increasing functionality, home value and sellability for home builders. We are looking for someone with leadership, passion and experience selling to national and regional builders. This role will sit within the Commercial Leadership team and benefit from the demand generation and sales efforts across the new home construction ecosystem - installers, distributors and specifiers. The Vice President of New Home Construction Sales and Business Development will be part of the team focused on building the SPAN Home Builder channel from the ground up.
Responsibilities:
Work with senior leadership to develop a robust home builder sales strategy and execution plan to deliver on sales quota
Source and build, through your network and demand SPAN has generated, relationships within the target homebuilder segments to help them differentiate their homes with SPAN Home solutions
Develop relationships and execute formal agreements and programs with large national and regional single family home builders
Attract and develop top talent to build SPAN’s New Home Construction channel resources, including pre-sale and post-sale fulfillment responsibilities.
Conducts regular business reviews and presents outcomes to executive leadership
Work cross-functionally to ensure programs are developed and executed through marketing, supply chain, product and operations teams
Work with the regional sales managers to ensure sales are pulled through the local certified installer network with high quality installations
Understand, monitor and influence industry trends and regulations impacting home builders as it relates to energy
About You
Required Qualifications
We are seeking a Vice President, New Home Construction Sales & Business Development who has:
10+ years of experience and success selling to national and/or regional home builders
Demonstrated ability for the art of technical sales: driving urgency, consultative selling and closing business
Strong analytical and operational skills in executing builder programs
A solid and genuine understanding of technology, specifically relevant to smart home and sustainable or renewable energy
Ability to create a long term vision and engage key stakeholders to execute on that vision
Ability to get things done in a fast-paced startup environment
Strong team-player with proven track record of working effectively with all stakeholders
Past experience building out a new vertical for a company, including managing a team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Positive mindset and attitude, and a passion for rapidly scaling residential electrification and renewable energy solutions
Up to 50-75% travel required
Bonus Qualifications
Experience working at a national or regional homebuilder
The U.S. base salary range for this position is $230,000 - $250,000 plus benefits and OTE, equity and variable compensation for Sales-related roles. This range represents SPAN’s good faith estimate of competitively-priced salary for the role based on national, real-time industry data from companies of a similar growth stage. This range reflects minimum and maximum new hire salaries for the role across US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and individual factors including relevant skills, experience and education or training. This range correlates to the relative level of the candidate we believe we need for the role and may require an adjustment for candidates of a different level.
