About Lental: Lental is a peer-to-peer (P2P) marketplace focused on providing flexible payment solutions for renting, buying, bidding and swapping items, aiming to revolutionise the e-commerce space; Lental works on a local scale, providing an end-to-end sustainability-driven platform.

Mission: To accelerate the circular economy. Transparency, sustainability and flexibility. We are a very early-stage startup dedicated to building a low-cost Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and securing angel round funding, as such we are now looking for a founding software developer.

About the role: We are looking for a highly ambitious, technically competent spftware developer interested in leading an early-stage startup to success, and play THE leading role in our product development journey, providing valuable input and technical leadership, and being a key founding member for fundraising.

In return, you will get 25% of the company (on a long-term vesting schedule), and 10% of however much is raised in funding rounds (for example: £50k of 500k in angel round funding, Series A 100k out of £1M).

Unlimited salary and equity upside potential if successful and revenue-generating (I think this is a £100m+ idea space) - e.g. £30 million exit after 7-9 years - leaving you with £7.5M. There are similar marketplace case studies at this level and much higher examples.

The role is fully remote with monthly in-person meetups, and working hours are flexible per week (provided a minimum of 16 hours per week/2 days per week are reached)

Working hours will depend on the tasks at hand and efficiency, and will most likely ramp up to full-time 50+ hours per week after fundraising. For example, fundraising will require at least 32 hours per week.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development Leadership: Lead the technical vision, strategy, and development of Lental's MVP, and obsessive iteration based on customer feedback to build a world-class product; working closely with the founding team to define product requirements, roadmap, and milestones.

Scrappy and Bootstrapping Approach: Develop and implement cost-effective, innovative solutions to build and iterate the MVP, leveraging open-source tools and existing platforms where possible.

Fundraising Support: Collaborate with the CEO and founding team in fundraising efforts, including preparing technical documentation and prototypes for investor presentations.

Technical Expertise: Architect and develop scalable and robust technical infrastructure for the P2P marketplace, ensuring security, performance, and reliability.

Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and lead a small, high-performing engineering team. Foster a collaborative and agile development environment.

Marketplaces and Circular Economy: Apply your passion for marketplaces, sustainability, and tech for good to drive the development of features that promote the circular economy and flexible payments.

Startup Experience: Utilise your experience in startups or building products from scratch to navigate the challenges of an early-stage company and drive rapid growth and innovation.

Qualifications:

We're looking for someone who has excelled in a technical leadership position or is aspiring to have more ownership, for example, head of or senior product, engineering, or software engineer in a startup or early-stage company, seeking to become CTO and ultimately build valuable equity with unlimited upside potential.

• Front end experience essential, backend ideal - deep knowledge of React, js, Python (Django)
• Strong background in developing and launching successful products, ideally with a focus on marketplaces or P2P platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a scrappy, bootstrapping manner to build low-cost MVPs and iterate quickly based on user feedback.
• Passion for marketplaces, circular economy, sustainability, or tech for good.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to tackling technical challenges.
• Experience with a range of technologies and platforms, with the ability to make strategic decisions about technology stack and architecture.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
• Experience in fundraising and working with investors is a plus.
