Who We Are?

The SCMA Data Science team is responsible for predicting what customers want to buy in short/mid-term horizon and automate the relevant process. We create a daily demand forecast for all Coupang’s Retail SKUs, every day. We work with internal stakeholders to solve challenging Supply Chain problems at scale. Our systems ensure Coupang’s customers are delighted with consistently available products. Automation supports scale and efficiency of our Supply Chain processes.

How We Do It?

We use Machine Learning/Deep Learning processes to generate our daily demand forecast. We focus on Time Series models for predicting customer demand. We provide the Data Science team with ML Engineer and Data Analysis resources to ensure the Data Scientists can focus on building the best models. Our goal is to apply cutting edge models into our production environments, using a deep understanding of the e-commerce business domain to demonstrate results in production. We join big thinking with a pragmatic approach to measuring results.

Our systems are built on Hadoop and Spark in Cloud environments, with advanced forecasting models implemented. Data Scientists work with a cross-functional team of ML Engineers, Back-end Engineer, Analysts and Product Owners to build world-class systems that keep our Supply Chain running smoothly.

Responsibilities:

Conduct and drive building of ML/DL modes for SCM related products focusing on demand forecasting for inventory optimization, and supply chain resilience. Collaborate with product managers to translate business requirements into advanced ML model design, and work with a cross-functional team of ML Engineers and Data Analysts to deliver world class ML solutions into production. Advocate for and apply advanced ML/DL techniques and algorithms to forecast tens of millions of products/SKUs having complex Time Series demand patterns. Engage with stakeholders to demonstrate the business value of new models and gather feedback for continuous improvement. As part of DS team, foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning. Stay abreast of the latest developments in ML/DL/LLM and supply chain technologies to keep Coupang's SCM products at the cutting edge.

What are the things this person MUST do/have?

Proven expertise in building ML/DL models in a production environment and forecasting related domain experience is preferred Strong proficiency with ML frameworks, tools, and languages such as Python, R, Java, TensorFlow, and PyTorch with demonstrated experience in building ML/DL models to handle large-scale datasets Strong experience with Big Data ecosystem (Spark, Hive, HBase) and familiar with SQL and NoSQL (Redis/MongoDB) Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts for a broad audience Experience in conducting and driving DS projects, with a track record of delivering impactful DS models and ML/DL solutions into production

Essential Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields. A Master or Ph.D. in ML, Data Science, or a related technical field is preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in ML/DL/LLM modeling or algorithm areas, with significant expertise in SCM or related fields.
