ispace Europe is seeking, a highly motivated and talented DevOps engineer for Ground segment to join our team. Our vision is to expand and sustain humanity’s presence in space by developing a lunar economy built on the resources available on the Moon. As the regional office of ispace inc., we are creating the first lunar resource exploration service by developing ispace’s next generation rovers that will prospect for lunar water and other resources. We are a small, international team motivated by the challenges of the Lunar Frontier and determined to achieve the company’s vision. This is a unique opportunity to join a truly fascinating project to explore resources on the Moon. In this role you will join a small international team of engineers and will be primarily involved in the production and verification of our Micro Rovers and Exploration Rovers. As a DevOps engineer for Ground segment, you will be responsible for creating the suite of tools and environments used to process, analyze, and interpret data collected from our lunar missions. You will work with our mission scientists to create brand new tools for selecting landing sites, our rover engineers to enable efficient surface operations, and our business developers to scale these tools into their own outward-facing services. The position is based in Luxembourg and reports to the Software Group Manager and the MD/Engineering Manager (CTO Group). It will closely collaborate with ispace EUROPE’s team members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with scientists, instrument specialists, and mission operators to determine product requirements as they evolve.
- Build out the tools and infrastructure needed to plan missions, and aid in geospatial analysis.
- Implement and mature the processes needed for effective operations on the lunar surface.
- Develop interfaces and tools for effortless telecommanding of lunar rovers.
- There will be opportunities for lander and rover operations training and participation if desired.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer science or similar education.
- 3+ years of work experience.
- Experience in setting up and managing IT infrastructure (networking, security, VMs, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of Linux operating system in servers and desktop machines.
- Experience in python, particularly experience developing for web backends and cloud deployment.
- Additional programming languages are a plus: Java, Go, Javascript, C, C++.
- Ability to write code alone and as part of a team, using ticket trackers, git repositories, and the like. We use the Atlassian Suite -- Bitbucket, Jira, etc.
- Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment methodologies.
- Experience in setting up, managing, or optimizing CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience in working with web development technologies, especially on the backend. Know your way around Docker and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of cloud computing and infrastructure maintenance.
- A strong command of English.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and make difficult problems easy to understand.
- Knowledge of space exploration, in-situ resource utilization, and their relevant datasets.
- A love of maps, physics, geology and/or robotics.
- Familiarity with any of our typical libraries and tools: gdal, SPICE, ROS, Ansible, Terraform, etc.
