Daniel GajardoThe Role
About BlueUrbn:
We are an early-stage start-up developing science-based software solutions to decarbonize the built environment. Energy retrofits are a hassle, and we are passionate about making them easy.
BlueUrbn was launched by Stanford University grad students, and in less than a year is conducting pilots with real estate managers, enterprises, engineering firms and cities, to help them decarbonize their buildings. Last year we closed our pre-seed round backed by Unshackled Ventures and The Collab Fund, and are now making strides towards a successful seed round in H1 2024.
Our team has engineering and science at the core. Dhruv, our CEO, is finishing his PhD in Energy Resources Engineering and just completed a residency in Tapestry, part of Google’s X moonshot factory. We believe that to decarbonize buildings we need to have a solid science foundation, but that solutions need to be accessible for diverse decision-makers and be easy-to-use products.
About the role:
As we scale, we are looking for someone that is comfortable wearing a business hat and allows us to hone in on the diverse value propositions we are identifying with our products. You need to be comfortable engaging with people, listening, and articulating opportunities internally so that we can build good and attractive products for our customers. You need to be business-savvy to identify the best opportunities, and differentiate noise from signal.
What you will help us with:
Customer discovery and needfinding for science-based software products, including conducting interviews and product demos.
Develop and deliver new leads through existing networks and new ones that you can create.
Development of customer engagement materials, as brochures, presentations, commercial narratives and slide decks.
Articulate internally to cater to the insights you identify, in coordination with product and technical teams.
Conduct market and business research, in order to inform go-to-market, pricing models and commercial proposals.
What we are looking for:
Experience leading design and innovation methodologies.
Experience working in business-related or customer-facing activities.
100% commitment. This must be your full time and top commitment - not part time.
Proactive and self-disciplined professional.
Comfortable working in fast-moving early-stage start-ups.
Great communicator, internally and externally.
Strategic thinker, that is able to think long-term and ask themselves “so what?”.
You’ll be a particular great fit if you have:
Experience in commercial or product teams involving software.
Experience in energy, the built environment or ClimateTech.
Proven experience finding product-market fit and achieving monetization targets.
Why you should work with us:
Get hands-on experience in the booming ClimateTech landscape, in one of its most exciting verticals, the built environment.
Awesome culture, with a team that has strong commitment towards the internationalization of our solution to the Global South (where 75% of our team comes from).
Exciting prospects to become the leader and architect of a growing commercial and product team.
