PrettyData is an early stage VC backed software startup that is bringing competive intelligence tools to the beauty and wellness services industry (i.e. hair, waxing, massage, med spa, etc.) to help beauty professionals and stores earn more. Our product is focused on the US but we are a global remote-first company that embraces curiosity, integrity, and tenacious problem-solving. Led by a veteran startup executive who helped build a $1.5B unicorn, worked at Ray Dalio's hedge fund Bridgewater Associates, and also owns a salon - we combine the worlds of tech and beauty.

We're looking for an experienced developer who has previously built solid web apps, from frontend to backend independently. S/he will get the chance to build and shape our beta product from the early stages. You will be a pillar of our small but mighty development team working with our designer and backend lead on all aspects of the application.

Responsibilities

• Developing features to enhance the user experience
• Optimizing web pages for maximum speed and scalability
• Building reusable code for future use
• Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications
• Write effective APIs and documentation
• Support managing the infrastructure and security of our application
• Test, troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software

Who You Are

You are a keen, eager learner who turns every experience into a growth opportunity. You are self motivated and maintain high standards for your work deliverables, always looking for better ways of doing things. You would never say that something “isn’t your job”, and you know how to balance hustle with poise in the way you conduct yourself. You also have the following technical knowledge:

• Five or more years of software development experience
• Understanding of key frontend design principles; experience with responsive and adaptive design
• Knowledge of multiple frontend languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/ CSS, Vue.JS, XML)
• Knowledge of multiple backend languages (e.g. pHp and Python) and Symfony framework
• Familiarity with databases (e.g. Postgres, MongoDB) and web servers (e.g. Azure)
• Familiarity with infrastructure and security (e.g. Digital Ocean, Sentry)
• Comfortable in a fast-paced unstructured startup environment
• Team player with good communication skills; able to work with global team from other countries
• Bonus points if you've worked with big data applications (i.e. data enrichment or intelligence tools like Clearbit, Similiarweb, Experian, etc.)
