About the job
Company Overview
Armanet is a founder-led, VC backed advertising company supporting the 2A industry (firearms and related products). The founding team comes from Tech and Media and has a deep respect for the firearms industry and the 2A space generally. Armanet’s mission is to modernize advertising capabilities for firearms brands and retailers. The industry is full of amazing companies and content, we’re bringing them together in a way that lifts all ships and adds value
We are grounded in this pursuit and guided by our Company Values. We expect every employee to embody the values because they help drive amazing results
Get Shit Done -
Roll up your sleeves mentality. Take ownership and make things happen.
Blow Shit Up -
“The way it’s always been done” is usually the first place disruption is needed. Find stagnation, break it and build something better.
Think Around Corners -
Always consider what’s next. Doing and Breaking is fun, but anticipation and planning ahead is key.
Don’t Be a Jerk -
‘nuff said.
The Role:
Armanet is building a dedicated programmatic ad-tech stack from the ground up, uniquely tailored for the significant yet underserved firearms industry. As part of this effort, we’re hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to be responsible for building and maintaining the necessary infrastructure stability for our end customers.
Our ideal candidate is someone with experience speccing and managing both physical and cloud machines and their network, and that has experience working directly with Linux. Cloud or OnPrem? Doesn't matter. That being said, prior datacenter experience is not required, a good candidate for the position can demonstrate the ability to learn new things.
You will play a pivotal role as a member of the founding team, responsible for bringing a substantial amount of infrastructure online across multiple data centers. As an early hire, you’ll also have outsize influence in defining the company’s culture and ensuring mission success.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain ad-tech stack infrastructure and services
- Develop and maintain observability mechanisms for continuous monitoring of performance and stability
- Work in close collaboration with software engineers to ensure infrastructure is robust, scalable and efficient
- Scaling, monitoring and maintaining a PostgreSQL and Redis storage layer
- Scaling, monitoring and maintaining Docker containers
- Use of configuration management and deployment tools
- Define the golden standard for our growing SRE team
- Typical operating system-level tasks such as logging and backup / restore
- Incident response and diagnosis on system outages or alerts
Qualifications
- 2 or more years of experience in SRE/Operations/DevOps role
- Experience operating highly available infrastructure
- Comfortable working and thriving within a Linux ecosystem
- Understand networking in the physical domain of switches and servers
- Comfortable with shell and a programming language (JS, PHP, Rust...)
- Comfortable with the following technologies: Ansible, Terraform, PostgreSQL, Redis, Zookeeper, Grafana
- Comfortable with Docker and Docker Compose
It would be awesome if
- You are passionate about the 2A space
- You know C++ or Rust
- You are knowledgeable in your domain but also enjoy wearing multiple hats and venturing outside of your comfort zone when the need arises
- You enjoy working with a small group of friendly, highly motivated, execution focused colleagues
- You had a history to contributing to Open Source projects
Before you submit your application, make sure you include answers to the following:
- What is your favorite caliber, and why?
- Would you enable AOF and RDB in Redis at the same time?
