The Role

Manager, Immigration Program

The Build Fellowship by Open Avenues is a nationwide, cap-exempt H-1B visa fellowship offered to foreign national innovators, experts, and talent seeking to grow careers and companies in the United States. Build Fellows are employed by Build Fellowship non-profit partners part-time and sponsored for cap-exempt H-1B visas. Build Fellows contribute to the missions of non-profit partners and to the social and economic success of the United States by opening career pathways for the future U.S. workforce.

We are looking for an experienced Manager, Immigration Program to oversee and manage The Build Fellowship by Open Avenues immigration processes. This position requires leadership, attention to detail, client service skills, and strong written and spoken communication with company executives, attorneys, and industry professionals.

Responsibilities:

People Management & Leadership:

  • Supervise and guide Immigration Program Coordinators through the evaluation and onboarding processes for Build Fellows and partner companies.
  • Monitor the onboarding and offboarding procedures for employers within The Build Fellowship.
  • Manage processes and systems to ensure efficiency and high-quality services.

Immigration Program Management:

  • Analyze complex immigration cases and provide timely and empathetic updates to employers and candidates.
  • Collaborate with The Build Fellowship lawyers to navigate Fellow cases throughout the Fellowship lifecycle.
  • Stay informed about immigration news to provide timely information to Fellows and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the public access file process and related compliance procedures.
  • Review documents for completeness and accuracy for inclusion in cap-exempt H-1B petitions.

Client Services & Partnership Management:

  • Maintain regular and transparent communication on cases and nurture partnerships with immigration law firms and company collaborators.
  • Collaborate with Business Development Leads to manage the immigration petition process comprehensively.
  • Regularly evaluate and monitor processes to ensure a high-quality service and experience for all partners.
  • Generate reports based on data trends to inform stakeholders and enhance service delivery.

Your Background + Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in global mobility, employment-based immigration, international student services or a relevant field.
  • At least 3 years of direct management experience.
  • Deep understanding of immigration processes related to the uncapped H-1B visa.
  • Alignment with and motivation by the mission of The Build Fellowship.
  • Strong attention to detail, coupled with problem-solving skills.
  • Comfort in a dynamic startup environment with shifting priorities.
  • Proven track record of thriving in fast-paced, cross-functional teams.

The base salary range for this position is between $75,000 - $90,000 annually.
