This role is a full-time remote position offering the flexibility to work from anywhere.
Role Overview
Fenix Games is looking for a Legal Counsel to join its Legal Department. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Legal Counsel will provide legal and regulatory advice and support to our Executive Leadership Team.

Key Responsibilities
- The role will engage proactively on legal areas affecting trading, private equity, investment management, operations, product, engineering, finance, and business development to advance the firm’s mission
- Provide strategic and practical advice and support on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters as they arise
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts (primarily related to the establishment and maintenance of ongoing commercial relationships) and other legal documents.
- Advise and work cross-functionally as needed with respect to all areas affecting the business, including corporate/commercial, securities, consumer protection, IP, employment, privacy, marketing, and regulatory.
- Analyze laws and regulations in new jurisdictions to support development of business opportunities
- Liaise with outside counsel to improve efficient communications and maximize value
- Closely collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to identify, address, and communicate risks, and to understand relevant business objectives.
- Provide legal, regulatory, and compliance advice to support novel business partners and projects building in web3 and blockchain space on issues related to securities and commodities laws, cryptocurrencies, CBDCs, AML/CFT compliance, sanctions compliance, money transmission, cross border payments, and blockchain technologies.
- Track legal and regulatory developments and trends in blockchain around the world, and work to increase internal awareness of material changes
- Identify opportunities to streamline the Legal Department, eliminate inefficiencies, and develop processes and/or contract external tools that empower the Legal Department and the broader business to move quickly.
What You'll Bring to The Team

- A JD/LLB/LLM and/or a bar member, in good standing
- 3-5 years’ experience at a recognized law firm looking for the right opportunity to move in-house, preferably focusing on financial services, financial technology, or blockchain
- Significant experience/background in securities law, early-stage investments, and private equity
- Experience representing emerging growth companies and venture capital firms in early-stage venture capital investments and other transactions is a plus
- Strong understanding of VC investments and legal structures is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to present complex legal issues in a clear and concise manner to provide succinct, practical, and results oriented legal advice and steps to execute
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to exercise sound legal and business judgment.
- Strong legal drafting and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work well under pressure, anticipate upcoming needs and prioritize tasks appropriately.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as with colleagues.
- A customer service focus and the ability to work collaboratively with internal partners. As an in-house lawyer, everyone at Weybridge will be your client!
- Experience working in fintech and/or crypto would be considered an asset.
- Experience in one or more of the following substantive legal areas would be considered an asset: employment, consumer protection, IP, privacy, and marketing.
