About the job

The founders of GAIN have been pioneers in digital fitness for over a decade. Our original app and workout builder were used by 100's of thousands of people—but we were five years too early. No subscription business model existed back then, and the tech tools were crude for the vision we were bringing to life.

Since then, we've co-founded two other fitness companies and honed our skills in product and design while consulting for top fitness brands (incl. Equinox, TRX, Les Mills, Life Fitness, Nike, Xponential).

Fast forward to today, a number of factors have converged and we're looking for a backend engineer to help us relaunch the original GAIN app to an audience of 1 million former app users.

You are:
A passionate senior engineer who wants to get dirty in AI/ML to help us to rebuild the original GAIN Workout Builder, which generated 10's of millions of unique, custom workouts based on our detailed exercise database, exercise science based templates and dynamic user inputs (incl. goals, duration, fitness level and equipment).

You have:
• Passion for building intelligent tools to solve users' personal fitness problems.
• Experience in (or strong desire to learn) selecting/implementing machine learning from scratch.
• Experience in (or strong desire to learn) ML optimization, interation and model quality improvement.
• Comfort working with a variety of backend infrastructure, databases, data and content types.
• Strong software architecture, networking and data management chops.
• Pride in writing elegant code solutions for complex problems.
• Creativity when it comes to applying data models and incorporating user inputs from workouts to enable dynamic, progressive, motivating fitness experiences.

Bonus: you love fitness and working out.

We are offering unparalleled expertise in fintess-tech, a built-in audience of a million users, and an app formula we know will be successful. We want to build and co-own the best consumer fitness app on the App Store.

Open to part-time or full-time, and creative about compensation (learning towards company equity/revenue share).
