The Role:
Backstage is seeking a Business Development Executive in Australia to grow the number of employers posting jobs on Backstage’s career platforms (Backstage, Mandy, and StarNow). Our business development team consists of twelve business development executives andis part of Backstage’s larger Casting department. The Casting department includes account managers, casting editors, website admins, content specialists, and customer service representatives working across nine different countries – all specialized in the hiring and casting needs of creative projects. We value autonomy and collaboration equally, and foster a culture where we trust our team members execute on their own volition, while working collaboratively towards mutual goals.
As a Business Development Executive, your primary objectives are to expand our client base and drive the creation of new job posts. Our clients include production companies, directors, brands, agencies, and content creators who are staffing projects for film/tv, commercials, theater, marketing campaigns, and more. In this role, you’ll be identifying and reaching out to leads, educating and onboarding new clients, and building cohesive, collaborative and dynamic relationships with new and existing partners.
The Business Development Executive will report to our Business Development Lead- Casting Outreach.
What You'll Do:
- Leverage CRM, data, and market research to identify new leads and strategic partners, like unions, associations, and influencers
- Engage potential new clients through tailored, customized outreach
- Present and demo Backstage products and services to potential clients and partners
- Develop and foster trusted relationships with key users; become their trusted advisor on intricacies of the marketplace, cast + crew hiring, and how to best utilize the platform
- Assist with onboarding new employers; utilize expert knowledge of client needs to identify and solve their hiring problems
- Elevate brand awareness through networking at industry events
- Partner with the Marketing department to develop targeted campaigns to expand market presence
- Share user feedback and case-studies with Product team to inform and guide future product and process improvements
- Collaborate with Backstage’s editorial team to enhance editorial initiatives related to a market segment
What we're looking for from you:
- Demonstrated experience in a Business Development, Account Management, or Sales role; high-velocity B2B SaaS tech or marketplace experience preferred
- Technical acuity; must be able to to understand, utilize, and explain our online casting/hiring technology
- Self-driven and competitive, you enjoy identifying and converting new leads
- Ability to translate technical language to a non-technical audience
- Experience with customer segmentation, and strategizing effective communication and positioning for each unique segment
- Deep customer empathy; you enjoy solving customer pain points and needs
- Strong analytical skills; you are able to assemble and interpret data, create executive summaries, and deliver actionable insights
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills that can be tailored to suit a variety of individual personalities and levels of seniority
- Excellent project management skills; you are able to work autonomously, maintain detailed records, and be attentive and responsive to client communication
- Proven ability to solve a wide variety of unstructured challenges
- Experience working with casting directors, producers, directors, creative directors, talent agents, and/or marketing/advertising agencies preferred
