JOB SUMMARY:
The Marketing Director is responsible for working independently, and growing/leading a small team of contractors, to drive the growth of our brands and product line. They will oversee, and contribute to, the day-to-day success of the portfolio, including content and creativity, marketing tactics, financial health, and growth strategies. This role encompasses all aspects of marketing, from strategic to tactical, across various channels. Working closely with the executive and sales teams, the Marketing Director aims to increase visibility and sales opportunities to establish the company as a global leader in the hydration solution industry.
The ideal candidate for this role is a highly creative and innovative individual with strong project management skills. They should have a passion for crafting compelling stories that create a need for our products in customers' daily lives. The Marketing Director should thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment and be adept at building cross-functional relationships. Additionally, they should possess excellent presentation and design skills, with the ability to convey product vision through hand-sketching, 3D renderings, and presentation materials.
This role requires a focus on high-volume consumer products that are technically sophisticated and user-friendly. The Marketing Director will lead and contribute to creative, multi-disciplinary projects encompassing consumer product design and manufacturing facility design. The ultimate goal is to revolutionize hydration and provide convenient access to water for those in need.
ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Our headquarters are based out of Austin, Texas, however, this role will be remote. This role’s time commitment on average will increase over time, however, will fluctuate depending on the partnerships developed and estimated at 10-15 hours per week starting out, with the eventual commitment being 40+ hours per week as design and production ramp up.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business development and product development) to develop and implement strategies for increasing market share and driving revenue growth.
- Utilize market research, customer feedback, and industry trends to identify opportunities in the consumer industry and develop plans to capitalize on them.
- Manage and analyze product data (sales, feedback, and trends) to optimize product offerings and drive growth.
- Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to identify threats and opportunities for HID SIPS.
- Participate in industry events and conferences to stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and trends in the industry.
- Analyze Amazon and Shopify data (sales, conversation rate, sessions, etc.) to determine why certain products are trending up or down and develop strategies to quickly spot and fix low margin and low growth products.
- Utilize data to assess facets of the product (size of package, cost of ads, reviews etc.) and determine if there is room for optimization and increased EBITDA margin.
- Create business plans outlining all strategic opportunities for your product portfolio, associated costs, timelines, and resources required to achieve a successful outcome.
- Develop strategies to increase sales, reduce costs, and drive conversion rate of products including: price optimization, PPC (SP/SD/SBP/SBV ads), DSP, coupons and deals, creatives, listing optimization,
- SEO strategies. Ensure that the team delivers on these strategies.
- Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reporting for all products, coordinating with our finance team to ensure we are showing an accurate P&L.
- Proactively catch issues before they are problems and understand everything about the ecosystem in which your products are selling (e.g., competitor landscape, industry landscape, Amazon marketplace rule changes).
- Research programs and tools on Amazon and other ecosystems to increase sales.
- Partner with internal teams to develop a go-to-market strategy and facilitate successful, impactful product launches and international expansion.
- Directly manage and mentor marketing team, providing leadership and coaching of direct resources (Marketing Specialist) and agencies to execute on all elements of the marketing strategy.
- Own, develop, and implement marketing strategies for the company, including execution of all campaigns and programs related to organic, paid and owned media marketing channels, including web properties, SEO initiatives, email campaigns, social media, paid, inbound marketing and events.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our target market, buyer personas, and customer needs to ensure effective messaging and positioning.
- Establish and execute product marketing strategies that differentiate HID SIPS and our services in the market.
- Be the brand ambassador for HID SIPS to ensure all stakeholders understand what makes HID SIPS unique, different, and exciting. Participate at relevant events, including speaking opportunities, tradeshows, accelerators, and other community events.
- Create and manage marketing budgets and KPIs to ensure effective resource allocation and ROI.
- Develop and manage metrics to track and measure the success of marketing programs and adjust accordingly to maximize conversion and continuously improve marketing performance.
- Manage external agencies and vendors to ensure delivery of high-quality marketing programs. Track budget associated with agencies and identify areas of program improvement.
- Work closely with the sales team to develop and execute campaigns that increase pipeline and conversion rates, that support business growth and expansion. Drive customer acquisition and revenue growth by driving leads, sales activity, and new sales opportunities through organic, owned, and earned media channels.
- Create a consistent, professional brand image across all communication assets (including printed and digital material, website, social media, and events).
- Expand brand awareness through award nominations, press relations, accelerators, and network partners. Identify and apply for relevant programs to increase brand visibility.
- Study design briefs and determine requirements for contracted content creators
- Schedule projects and define budget constraints
- Conceptualize visuals based on requirements
- Prepare rough drafts and present ideas
- Develop illustrations, logos and other designs using software or by hand
- Use the appropriate colors and layouts for each graphic
- Work with copywriters and team of directors to produce the final design, contribute to copyright
- Test graphics across various media
- Amend designs after feedback
- Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field, MBA a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts or a related field is a plus
- 5-10+ years of sales or marketing experience within the consumer product industry; eCommerce a plus
- 5+ years of supervisory or management experience
- 3-5+ years of Director experience in a startup environment
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing high-performing teams
- Proven track record of working hand-in-hand to deliver the most effective and positive public reception of our product
- Deep understanding of the latest technologies and trends in the industry.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, startup-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with C-level execs to develop and implement organizational strategies
- Experience working with Creators/Influencers on social platforms
- Experience with Google AdWords or other forms of paid search marketing
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies that drive revenue growth.
- Curious and self-directed in staying current on industry trends and best practices to improve channel strategy and optimize campaign execution.
- Ability to think both strategically and operationally.
- Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and enjoys the challenges of growing and scaling marketing capabilities.
- Experience in setting up and running a marketing automation tool
- Proven graphic designing experience
- A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics
- Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop)
- A keen eye for aesthetics and details
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
