About the job

A warm hello to my fellow humans of WellFound.

Dreamers Inc. is a research and software consultancy built around high performance with low stress. We like working on interesting things, learning from each other, and teaching each other. Sometimes that means self-driving tractors, satellite boards, natural language processing engines, quantum computing, physical robotics, or government systems that need to work correctly for real people. Other times it means web and mobile apps, and those can be pretty cool, too.

We are looking for a senior accessibility lead who can help make real systems work for real humans. Checklists are useful; judgment, technical depth, and the ability to move a team from finding problems to fixing them are considerably more useful.

What you will bring:

  • Expert knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 AA, Section 508, ADA-related digital accessibility, and current accessibility practice
  • Hands-on testing with JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, keyboard-only navigation, zoom, contrast, and automated tools
  • Strong command of semantic HTML, ARIA, accessible forms, documents, multimedia, design systems, and responsive interfaces
  • Experience creating or reviewing VPATs and Accessibility Conformance Reports
  • The ability to write precise, developer-friendly findings and verify remediation
  • Comfort working with designers, engineers, content teams, product owners, and government stakeholders
  • Enough technical fluency to distinguish a real barrier from a scanner's interesting opinion

Extra points for:

  • IAAP CPACC, WAS, or CPWA certification
  • DHS Trusted Tester certification or substantial Trusted Tester experience
  • Direct federal, state, local, education, healthcare, public-benefits, or other regulated-sector work
  • Accessible PDF and forms remediation, procurement reviews, or accessibility program leadership
  • Strong public-sector references and experience supporting proposal teams

The contract rate range is $80-$125 per hour, depending on depth, credentials, role fit, and the specific engagement. Please share your target hourly rate and availability.

This is a U.S.-remote contract role. Some government engagements require U.S. citizenship, public-trust eligibility, or other client-specific screening, so please state your citizenship and current U.S. work authorization.

We are building relationships ahead of anticipated contract awards. A conversation now may lead to a near-term engagement, but this post is not a guarantee of immediate or continuous hours.

Questions? Curiosity is good. Inquire within.
