About the job
Caesar is an early-stage startup powering corporate sustainability data collection and management. We are making it simple for companies to track and disclose Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data by providing intuitive, transparent, and automated sustainability data collection workflows.
ESG is a top priority for companies today, but current solutions do not solve mission critical pain points. This is an opportunity to join the company building the best in class software in the sustainability space.
We have built the initial version of the platform that solves the core problem today and we are engaged with a number of medium-to-large public companies to use our software, including live pilots. As we prepare to scale and accelerate our product roadmap, we are excited to bring on a lead software engineer to join our team at this early stage. In this role, you will be instrumental in all aspects of product development, building category-defining features, managing a growing team of engineers, and solving fundamental challenges of the sustainability data ecosystem.
Please see below for more details! If ready to apply, we ask you to take a look at our application link, fill out a few questions and we will follow up shortly! We look forward to hearing from you.
Caesar Overview
Caesar is powering modern corporate ESG data, unlocking more robust, transparent, and efficient corporate sustainability disclosures. Our platform provides a central source of truth, automated workflows, and insights into a company’s entire ESG data journey. We’ve begun working with a number of enterprise clients, who have raved about how intuitive, yet powerful our platform is.
The entire ESG data space is under more scrutiny as investors pressure companies to improve their ESG disclosure habits, and regulators (particularly the SEC and within the EU) are becoming more heavily focused on the space. Our platform helps companies get ahead of the regulatory curve and build strong internal data controls.
But we are just getting started, ESG has been on an exponential growth trajectory for the past few years, and Caesar is providing solutions to companies at a mission-critical moment of their sustainability journey. As the ecosystem matures, Caesar is well-positioned to integrate and expand into other aspects of the corporate sustainability landscape.
Connor Cash founded Caesar when he realized there was a massive disconnect between the usability of sustainability data, and what customers and investors required to make informed decisions. Caesar has received funding and support from NextView Ventures, Envision, and the AICPA/CPA.com accelerators.
Role Overview
As the Lead Software Engineer, you will own and drive product development. Owning all aspects of the product, this role presents an opportunity to shape the direction, strategy, and culture of an early-staged startup positioned for outsized impact and growth.
Through your work, companies will be able to collect, analyze, and improve their sustainability performance. If we are successful, you will have enabled companies to be better stewards of society by unlocking untapped sustainability potential by streamlining access to high-quality, actionable, applicable ESG data.
Qualifications
We are looking for a full-stack engineer who has experience leading product development and enjoys the fast-paced environment of an early-stage startup. Technologies that we employ are Angular, Python (Django), Postgres, and AWS.
The ideal candidate is a product-oriented software engineer with experience in enterprise software development who is passionate about sustainability. You welcome the challenge of owning all aspects of the product, enjoy interfacing with customers, and can balance tradeoffs with uncompromising integrity and best practices. You are excited about taking the initial version of the platform and making it your own, building upon the foundation, and taking the product to new heights.
You have a passion for clean code and thoughtfully architected systems. You keep the bigger picture in mind when implementing features and prioritize modularity and testability. For the front end, you’re comfortable with state management, making calls to various REST apis, managing network request lifecycles, and of course UI. On the backend, you’re comfortable designing and leveraging database schemas, designing API endpoints that leverage the REST resource design pattern, authentication, middleware, caching, and more. You’re comfortable with version control, managing various branches, prioritizing issues, and contributing to code reviews.
Our team only functions as well as we communicate with one another, so demonstrated clear communication and transparency are critical for us to build trust and dependability.
Compensation
We offer competitive salaries and equity in an early-stage startup, health benefits, and the flexibility to work on your own schedule, from wherever you’d like.
