POSITION SUMMARY
This role will sit within the Corporate Development team at FBN - which is part of the broader Corporate Strategy group. The Corporate Development team is responsible for helping shape FBN’s corporate strategy through acquisitions, investments, and bringing insights from the latest innovations and trends within the agriculture ecosystem into our roadmap and ensure cross functional alignment. It is also responsible for the successful integration of those businesses and success of investments, ensuring that target companies are contributing to FBN’s success and that target company resources have a positive, impactful early experience with FBN. As such, the Corporate Development team seeks individuals who are intellectually creative, highly analytical, diligent, and eager to work on complex business initiatives in absence of perfect information.
As a key member of the FBN Corporate Development team, this role will be responsible for the successful execution of post-merger integration plans with acquired FBN entities. This person will help develop and drive detailed, rigorous PMI plans. This person will work cross-functionally with other FBN team members including P&L business unit owners, Corporate Development teammates, and functional areas (such as IT, Finance, Legal, HR) to understand the acquired business, associated operational attributes, and internal needs for integration. From there, the resource will directly drive integration processes between FBN and the acquired business, serving as a central point of contact for all parties involved, and as a driver of PMI activities. The person will regularly assess and report out on integration progress, as well as support the creation and upkeep of an integration playbook and best practices associated with the integration of different types of companies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the Head of Post Merger Integration to develop and refine a robust PMI playbook that can be adapted for specific types of integrations
- During later stages of diligence, work closely with Corporate Development deal/diligence partners to begin in-depth understanding of the acquired business, including early meetings with key integrated party team members
- Prior to acquisition, adapt PMI playbook on a deal by deal basis, coming up with a comprehensive tactical plan for how we will conduct integration for that specific deal
- Socialize internally PMI plan and get buy in from all functional parties relevant to specific deal - both internally at FBN (including Finance, Legal, IT, HR) and at the acquired company
Execute on tactical integration plan with laser precision - coordinating tasks with a host of functional partners. Examples may include:
- Partner with HR team to ensure that we have payroll setup and integration plans, and timelines are communicated effectively back to acquired company leadership
- Work with the IT organization to ensure that ERP integration timelines are clearly understood, resourced, and communicated back to key acquired company stakeholders - such as sales leadership
Partner with Head of PMI to ensure that broader cultural integration is being prioritized and executed on, filtering and relaying key messages and sentiment from acquired company employees
Serve as a centralized point of contact throughout all of the above processes; be the centralized hub of information about specific integration tactics, and provide support as necessary
Communicate with key internal FBN leaders on integration process on a regular basis - from the Strategy team leadership to relevant the business unit to functional partners, gathering feedback on the integration process and success, iterating on the process as necessary
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-6+ years in program management, consulting, operation, or a role that involved cross-functional collaboration and process management
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to put together tactical plans of attack
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, with an ability to communicate with multiple types of audiences
- High aptitude to learn quickly, assimilate to new teams and projects, and work well under pressure with appropriate attention to detail
- A strong desire to work for the emerging disruptor of a complex, mission-driven industry
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Can quickly familiarize yourself with the farming / agriculture ecosystem
- Are extremely organized and can create detailed, polished plans and work products
- Can develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, from senior leadership through functional execution partners - communicating effectively with, and influencing, all of them
- Drive to results; find creative solutions to challenges and time barriers that inevitably present themselves
- Strong ability to drive to alignment and outcomes with and without direct ownership
- Can build culture and be a cultural ambassador across multiple groups, aligning interests and motivations
- Can quickly understand a wide range of subject matter areas and tactical processes
*The following represents FBN's reasonable estimate of the US national average base salary range of possible compensation for this role based on market data and placement of internal employees: $120,000 - $175,000. *
