This role is a chance to really make your mark on our early-stage venture, taking responsibility for all aspects of the user experience. You’ll be responsible for establishing a design system and culture along with building a world class design team. The key design challenges you will be working on are:
Developing a digital experiences for physical tasks:
DIY is rooted in the physical world and so our experiences need to seamlessly bridge the gap between digital tools and physical tasks. You will need to:
- Research new DIY projects and generate ideas for how to refine and expand our product offering considering the holistic experience across digital products, our online store and our physical project kits
- Working with the CPO and CTO to develop the product roadmap
- Designing, prototyping and wireframing digital products
- Briefing and reviewing with developers to build your designs
- Being proactive with copywriting and editing copy for our site, socials, and printed materials
- Testing prototypes and built products with customers
- Using what you’ve learnt through testing to iterate on the product
- Using outside of the box thinking to serve our customers’ unmet needs and differentiate our product
Establishing our brand
You will have ultimate responsibility for the creative experience across all our touchpoints, developing our brand experience and relationship with our customer. You will need to:
- Find the best brand direction through research with our audience and internal workshops. We want a brand that represents our personalities and values, as well as, a brand that our customers love to shop with
- Present beautiful and well thought out branding routes for us to refine as a team
- Create beautiful branded assets from icons and illustrations through to photographic direction, logos, naming, font choice, brand colours, advertising, animation style, brand values and tone of voice
- Create a design system and component library to establish consistency across our digital and physical products
Our dream Senior Product Designer is
- A passionate, multidisciplinary designer who is excited to hustle and try new things within and outside of design
- Someone who is keen to learn. Don’t worry if some of the responsibilities in this job description don’t match your experience. You could be the right person for the job if these responsibilities appeal to you and you are committed to learning on the job
- Someone who knows how to give and take feedback and who is happy to engage in constructive debate while being sensitive to the feelings of others
- Someone who is able to identify market opportunities and help define product vision and strategy
- Demonstrate a proven track record in delivering successful products that users love from ideation to launch
- At least five years of design experience in roles demonstrating thought leadership and ingenuity
- Able to work a couple of days a week from our London office
- An interest in D2C businesses, home projects and/ or DIY is a big plus!
