Product Owner

We’re disrupting how industry extracts value from data by creating software products that merge big data, spatial business intelligence, enterprise systems, AR/VR, and a bit of our own magic.

Our software platform and products support a variety of use-cases including sustainable natural resources development, indigenous land stewardship, wild-fire mitigation planning, carbon sequestration modelling, wildlife habitat management and more. Reporting to the Director of Product, the Product Owner will work in collaboration with multiple people and teams and will be the primary point of contact for the Development team(s). As the Product Owner you will be responsible for maintaining and managing product and feature designs, user-stories and backlog, creating and refining Epics, and working with our technical teams and clients to translate amazing use-cases into product reality. You’ll have the opportunity to envision, describe, plan and then manage new features through to launch on the LlamaZOO platform.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Product Manager and broader team to translate the product roadmap into well-defined product requirements in the form of Feature Briefs, designs, Epics & Stories
• Work alongside Production Managers and Development teams to define sprint plans
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to help define consistently exceptional user experiences for users of the product(s).
• Thrive in an Agile environment continuously refining your process and craft.
• Prioritize and maintain the sprint backlog for assigned products, balancing the requirements of all stakeholders
• Be an ambassador for the product internally and externally with clients/partners we collaborate with
• Develop launch plans for new features and products – big and small – organize/support the execution of product/feature launches by being involved in the creation and review of client support, account management, marketing, and sales material
• Contribute to organizational alignment through regular roadmap presentations, written communications, and training
• Create success criteria for each launch and track outcomes
• Represent and demonstrate our company values, brand, and mission in all interactions

Required skills and experience:

• 4+ years of experience in software development with 2 years in a Product Owner role
• Comfort with and experience working on Agile Teams
• Comfort and experience with Jira, creating/managing epics and stories
• Proactive, self-starter with excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Experience managing stakeholder expectations
• Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
• Strong writing and verbal communications skills
• High degree of computer and application literacy
• A thirst for knowledge and personal growth in a fast-paced environment
• A sense of urgency and persistence
• You work well with others, want to grow, and are open to feedback
• You do not settle for mediocre, but you are conscious of deadlines
• You are self-motivated and can work independently or as part of a team
