About the job

About PlayMPE
Location: And-Co Office - near Cardero St & W Georgia St, Vancouver.

At PlayMPE, we wake up every morning with our hearts beating fast, excited and driven by the knowledge that we're transforming the music world. We're obsessed with our customers and helping artists distribute their music easily. Because of our obsession, we're continually looking for ways to solve problems through design. That's why our products - Caster, Player, and MTR - resonate with so many people in the industry, including Universal and Warner.

About the team

We're a small but mighty product team who work to deliver amazing customer experiences for our products (Caster, Player, and MTR). We're looking for a candidate who is passionate about product strategy, research, design thinking and creative problem-solving. Someone who is self-motivated, a team player, and a proactive member of our team to be able to support us at developing the strategy of multiple initiatives and products.

If you are a doer, with passion for design this opportunity is for you!

  • We work in a fast-paced environment. Not only will you work across multiple products, but you will also be part of multiple conversations and ideas.

  • We trust our team, so your manager will define the direction.

  • Creativity is a must. We often encounter complex problems that will require hundreds of hours of development time, so we want to work with team members who think outside the box to evaluate potential simpler solutions. Because progress is better than perfect, and testing an idea is the first step to success.

  • Continuous improvements: When big ideas are added to our roadmap, we start building a simple solution or MVP to test it and improve it over time. So think big, future-proof your work, and be open to potential small solutions that can be tested.

  • *Day-to-day: *The day-to-day is balanced between meetings and design work, and you work very closely with the product manager on a daily basis.

  • Objectives and priorities: On a monthly basis, objectives and priorities are discussed and defined so that you always have clarity on what's next.

  • We love to understand the problem: Rooted in design thinking.

  • Meetings and productivity: We try to avoid spending too much time in meetings. We work asynchronously a lot and have defined a few team rules and habits that help us stay productive over time.

  • Gather feedback and work with multiple stakeholders: We are a very collaborative team. Designers often run feedback and stakeholder sessions to ensure our solutions consider all use cases and internal limitations and preferences.

  • Keep work and decisions organized always. As a collaborative team, your work has to be easy to find and understand, so organizing your work is essential.

About the opportunity
This opportunity is extraordinary for those who are passionate about building not only a product but, at its core, a business. Our product was recently launched, so we currently have a beta product build. The shape and growth of this product will partially depend on your decisions and your collaboration with your manager and the team.

The ideal candidate is someone with enough experience working as a Product Manager, using Jira, and feeling comfortable discussing ideas with developers, especially challenging them and negotiating alternative solutions. Moreover, we seek someone with an entrepreneurial spirit who loves building businesses and products and focuses on results. Knowledge of how a product directly affects revenue and how certain strategies need to be implemented with each new feature launch is essential. Ideally, this person should have a background in business or marketing.

It’s important to note that “Experience using Jira” is a non-negotiable requirement.

*At Play MPE - Product managers provide clarity and direction about the product vision and strategy. A product manager is often the one who: *

  • Brings the team together to define a solution and act as the main product ambassador for that solution.
  • Acts often as a project manager ensuring developers, designers and marketers get things done before the due date.
  • Defines the product vision and roadmap by deeply understanding the problem and connecting the collective knowledge shared between all stakeholders about the problem and the potential solutions.
  • Stays informed about current trends, opportunities, and threats.
  • Manages the product cycle, product roadmap, and product growth.
  • Supports the team by prioritizing the product backlog and creating user stories.
  • Delivers business outcomes and works with the marketing and sales team to increase revenue, customer retention, etc.
