Description
Lantum's products are used to organise the workforces delivering COVID vaccines across the UK.

We provide elegant & efficient clinical workforce management systems that enable GPs and hospitals to ensure there are sufficient clinicians to take care of patients, the wellbeing of staff - all whilst saving the organisation money.

The role
You'll be working in a cross-functional team with product and design as well as other engineers. We have a highly collaborative culture, with frequent pair programming and opportunities to experiment and get things wrong in a safe environment.

You care about technology and are constantly curious, always looking to learn and promote continuous improvement to our codebase by the use of modern methodologies. You seek to learn more about the fast-changing environment of software development and share those learnings with the team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with Product Managers, Designers and other Engineers to design and develop high impact features and improvements to our product, often solving technical problems of high scope and complexity.
  • You are contributing to the technical leadership of your team. This includes setting standards, adoption of best practices, mentoring and guiding other engineers and ensuring consistency and high standards across the codebase.
  • This role is not intended to be a people manager, although if you are interested in people management we would encourage you to apply as well.
  • You are expected to be in the code on a daily basis - providing an example of what great looks like. You should regularly ship large features and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members.
  • Advocate for improvements to product quality, security and performance and help contribute to making it better.
  • You’ll learn, collaborate with, and teach other Engineers. We believe everyone can contribute something new to the team regardless of how long they’ve been in the industry.

What does success in 3 months look like?

You have a strong grasp of the product, architecture, and codebase and are looking for ways you can contribute to the wider engineering team.
You have worked effectively with your squad in delivering existing roadmap features, and have demonstrated that you can deliver features of high complexity.
You have consistently given helpful code reviews which maintain the quality of our codebase and strengthen our engineers. Other developers now look to you for guidance on challenging technical areas.
You have made some mistakes and learnt from them, rarely making the same mistake multiple times.
You are an established member of the squad, regularly bringing new ideas to the table and partaking in convivial discussions
Requirements
Experience building and maintaining scalable, performant, and secure applications.
The ability to ensure quality (through testing or other measures) of the product and code shipped, efficiently, effectively and with a high cadence.
Experience with public cloud infrastructure, such as AWS.
Experience with performance and optimization problems and a demonstrated ability to both diagnose and prevent these problems.
Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and/or organizational problems and propose thorough iterative solutions.
The ability to identify key issues that inhibit a team’s effectiveness and the ability to deliver product improvements at pace.
Experience providing guidance or mentorship to more junior engineers.
A predisposition to thrive in a startup environment.

Our application is built in Python and React, run in Kubernetes, and hosted in AWS. Experience with our technology stack is not a requirement.

We are working fully remotely for the foreseeable future. Post-pandemic we will expect people to be able to work from our office to a sufficient extent that it enables effective planning and collaboration - we anticipate 1-2 days a week. Our office is currently located in Shoreditch.
