Memex is an open-source browser extension for personal and social curation and annotation of websites, PDFs and Youtube videos.

Our mission is to reduce the effect of misinformation and social polarisation by enabling people to more effectively organise, share and build on each other's online research.

We are a Steward Owned organisation, meaning we don't take VC money. Our company can never be sold off, our team's and investor's rewards are capped and are paid as a % of the profits we make.

We do so because we believe there is no collective intelligence without individual intelligence. For individual intelligence to be expressed in a digital space we need to be able to adapt our tools & connect workflows that individually suit our needs. The uncapped investor returns of VC money are the root cause of lock-ins that significantly hinder the emergence of an open knowledge society and collective intelligence able to overcome the complex challenges of our time.
