Culture and benefits at Wattblock
Culture overview
Wattblock needs to create a culture where diversity is respected and individuals' superpowers can shine. A culture where all founders and staff are punctual, work full office hours and maybe even put a little extra in, rather than clocking out after putting in the bare minimum. A culture where if not all team members want to attend a Friday lunch, there is at least one team connection point on a weekly basis. For a data analytics company, Wattblock needs to foster a culture of “data and information sharing” rather than data hoarding and siloing by individuals. Wattblock team members also need to embrace technologies which they are not experts in (e.g. cloud computing, realtime analytics) and recognize that we need assistance from external experts to leverage these technologies. When external experts are brought in, they need to be supported and made to feel part of the team and trusted as team members. Wattblock founders and senior team members need to nurture younger team members and interns. Wattblock team members need to improve cross-team communication and inform other team members of their activities. The culture needs to recognise that any staff member, contractor or intern can be a source of innovation, not just founders or long serving team members. The mentality needs to move towards a culture where founders and early employees want to hire people who are smarter than them. Finally, a culture of positivity in the face of adversity.
