The mission of the company is to alleviate students having to choose between pursuing higher education and fulfilling life’s responsibilities of work, family commitments, and personal endeavours, through leveraging the flexibility of remote immersive learning environments.
Furthermore, Virtua will engage students through applied virtual experiences to increase participation in STEM curriculum. Many students abandon STEM curriculum early in their academic lives as the concepts require significant powers of imagination to wrap the mind around them. Even with the aid of static two-dimensional images and copious amounts of hand waving by the Professor, the notion begins to set in that there is some “magic” that underpins STEM concepts and only some fortunate few are predisposed to understanding them, while others will be forever mystified by them. In fact, STEM is meant to demystify the workings of the universe and allow anyone and everyone who cares to access its understanding.
Our vision is to open the study of STEM in higher education by leveraging the flexibility of virtual learning environments allowing for virtual applied experiential learning through truly bespoke and flexible study.
The goal is to help over one thousand academic institutions engage students in higher level STEM education and increase student retention.
Virtua will be set up as an incorporated company located in Durham region of Ontario Canada and will be registered across Canada and the United States as we move into these markets.
