Verterra Energy, Inc. is developing a modular hydro device called "Volturnus" that deploys directly into rivers, oceans and man-made canals; in depths of less than 2 meters. It uniquely harnesses the power in flowing water to generate base-load electricity at under 10 cents/kWh. 5 units make a 50 kW "V-Pod" and these can be deployed in arrays to reach MW capacity.
Verterra has built and tested 3 generations of prototypes over the last half decade and is setting up a commercial demonstration project for 2017. Our team includes experienced, entrepreneurial people from Boeing, Tesla, DOE, BP and Winrock.
