Approximately 3.5 million children develop a speech or language disorder each year. To develop proper speech, kids need extended work at home and with a speech therapist. But therapists do not have streamlined ways to assign and remind families of their homework and must rely on self-reporting of compliance and accuracy. Furthermore, speech therapy can cost a family $400 per month per child. Also, the assigned exercises are usually boring and difficult to engage in and parents are not trained to guide kids’ therapy. To alleviate these issues, we are gamifying speech therapy, while tracking compliance and improvement data. We leverage AI to provide a non-binary grade of speech therapy exercises in real-time allowing the user to control a video game. Gamifying the experience will make the child more willing to practice. For therapists, we also offer a portal that tracks compliance and performance data and allows them to easily adjust and assign therapy exercises. This removes the need to rely on anecdotal data. Finally, our accessible price point will allow more children access to therapy services.
