The VentureSouth Angel Fund (previously known as the Palmetto Angel 2014 Fund) was the first sidecar investment fund that coinvests alongside the angel investor groups of VentureSouth.

Fund investors own an automatically diversified portfolio of the best opportunities our angel groups source, screen, and execute – a portfolio strategy that is a prudent way to mitigate the risk of loss of in individual early-stage investment. By coinvesting alongside the angel groups, fund investors benefit from the collective due diligence expertise, industry insights, and board-level mentoring of the angels, and they get all this through a professionally-managed, cost-efficient fund.

The fund had its first closing in June 2014 when it made its first two investments, and closed to new investors in early 2015. The fund invested in 18 of the leading startup companies in the Carolinas, has had some nice exits, and is currently working hard to realize those remaining investments!
