Umbrella empowers people 60+ to stay independent and age with dignity. We are pioneering a new kind of purposeful work, while serving those most in need and addressing a large market.

Our membership and community platform makes it easy and affordable to "age in place" by connecting our Members to Umbrella Neighbors who want to give back with everyday tasks and home maintenance. Umbrella Neighbors are often recent retirees who want to give back and stay active. We also connect our Members to dozens of professionals and resources to make it easier to age.

Umbrella was founded by Sam Gerstenzang and Lindsay Ullman, and is backed by Tier 1 venture investors and angels. We’re proudly based in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
