Every codebase rests on the foundation of its repo and in-repo tooling. Unfortunately, even the best companies tend to underinvest in the foundation of their codebase, because it is not core to their product roadmap. Companies assemble a hodge-podge of tools just sufficient enough to keep the gears spinning, oftentimes leading to high friction in landing changes and developer dissatisfaction. What we've seen countless times is organizations rallying their best engineers to come and rescue the repo. Engineers at Trunk, instead of working to triage a sick repo, will get to re-examine developer workflows from the ground up. We will build the tools to grease the wheels of development at scale and hopefully bring a little joy and magic to engineers' daily workflow.
