Most IoT solutions (Amazon, IBM, Intel, etc) are focus to connect IoT devices to the cloud to make it possible to use all the computing power available in their cloud (IoT gateway). But, it is too costly to send all your data 24/7 in an IoT gateway and in some cases, it is necessary a quick response to make decisions. That is why Edge Computing is a strong trend in the IoT market, because Edge Computing allows real-time decision and just consolidated data are sent to the cloud. But only a few companies are aiming to optimize software development for Edge Computing systems, especially because it's a really complex task: several hardware manufacturers, different kinds of processors, sensors and applicabilities make the app development process nonstandardized.
