We are a Chennai-based non-profit organization with a mission to transform the education system by elevating teaching. India has an alarming shortage of skilled teachers, a problem that became worse because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We aim to address this shortage of qualified and motivated teachers in Indian schools by building the skills, motivation, and social capital of pre-service teachers in India. Our model is a 3 - step program: Skill–Inspire–Connect. Through our ‘Skill’ program, our goal is to prepare a cadre of highly competent teachers with the right technical, digital, and productive skills. We collaborate with teacher training institutes to train pre-service teachers on skills such as classroom management, creating gender-responsive classrooms, appropriate use of modern teaching methods, and 21st-century teaching skills like creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, digital skills, communication, leadership, and productivity skills. We believe that motivated teachers create motivated students, igniting the curiosity, creativity, and thinking in their learners. Through our ‘Inspire’ program, we provide the pre-service teachers who have been through the Skill program, a platform where they can safely practice and showcase their skills to prospective employers. By providing a public platform for their teaching acumen, we leverage their intrinsic motivation to spark a love for teaching. This program also provides them with an opportunity to interact and learn from education experts and school leaders building their self-efficacy beliefs.
Our third initiative, the ‘Connect’ program, builds the social capital of pre-service teachers so they kick-start their career in teaching with a supportive community of fellow educators. Through the project, we provide them a safe platform to share ideas, discuss problems, and celebrate successes, making them feel they are a part of a larger community
