The Wedding Seed (TWS) shifts spending within the $20bn wedding registry market from traditional gift registries to cash gifting. TWS’ objective is to change gifting culture in the US from giving things to giving cash. Initially, TWS is trying to solve the fundamental disconnect in the wedding industry between what a couple asks for and what they truly want for their wedding. Couples want cash, and a 2013 American Express survey shows that only 18% of couples want a gift from the registry of their choice whereas 52% want cash.
