Odyssey's social content platform crowdsources ideas from millennial thought leaders in their local communities, surfacing a rich and otherwise untapped diversity of viewpoints. The platform empowers its thousands of writers to contribute and share what matters to them: 90% of Odyssey content is encountered via organic referrals in social channels. All content undergoes a rigorous editorial process combining proprietary technology and editorial team insights. Odyssey launched online in 2014, has a presence in 350+ communities nationwide (growing to 600 by year end), and a highly engaged, explosively growing Millennial/Gen Z audience. Odyssey was founded when two Indiana University students felt that the news targeting their generation was generic and not resonating. They created a platform to flip the traditional top-down editorial model to harness the ideas around them, enable local stories to be told on a national scale, and give talented writers the opportunity to be heard.
