The Capital Network is a unique Boston-based 501(c)3 non-profit focused on creating a more inclusive and equitable funding ecosystem through education programming, professional connections, and community support for first-time founders of early-stage startups. While its programs support founders from varied backgrounds, its flagship program focuses on female founders and the unique challenges they face in raising capital. Female founders historically have received less than 3% of all Venture Capital funding. The Capital Network’s aim is to democratize fundraising for those who have historically been excluded. There has never been a more important time for action on inclusive growth to help female founders generate and sustain wealth. Established in 2004, The Capital Network was created to provide first-time entrepreneurs with education and support to grow their companies. At the time limited options were available for first-time founders to learn how to raise capital. As part of its offering, The Capital Network provides founders access to a network of early-stage investors. Over the years, thousands of entrepreneurs have participated in The Capital Network’s programs and benefited from a network of investors they may not have otherwise been able to access. The Capital Network believes a more inclusive funding ecosystem is possible.
